And Danilo, 21, is the man they have targeted to ease any injury concerns, according to Goal.

A £20m bid is claimed to have been submitted on Tuesday.

But Goal say it is expected that the Brazilian club will turn down the offer.

Further reports elsewhere suggest Palmeiras want £21.5m to sell the Brazilian midfielder.

Arsenal are thought to be open to investing more money into improving the squad ahead of tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

Knocks to Partey and Elneny mean boss Mikel Arteta is short of options in midfield for tonight’s game against Aston Villa.

Partey, 29, is currently suffering with a thigh problem while Elneny, 30, complained of hamstring pain after Saturday’s 2-1 win against Fulham.

And defensive midfielder Danilo could be the man to offer Arteta more squad depth and competition for places.

Danilo played 45 times in all competitions for Palmeiras last season – scoring seven goals and providing three assists.

Elsewhere, the Gunners have also been linked with a late swoop for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The 21-year-old talent recently fuelled speculation of a move to the Emirates by ‘liking’ a picture of himself mocked up in a Gunners shirt.

Nicolas Pepe’s loan departure to Nice means Arteta’s side are looking to add a wide man to ease the burden on Bukayo Saka.
