NEW BBC series Marriage is set to hit out screens with an all-star cast.

The drama will follow a couple that has been married for 30 years, but where was the series filmed?

Where is Marriage filmed?

The main filming location of Marriage was Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire at Bellway’s The Foundary, off Dacorum Way.

It has been reported that the house builder donated all money raised from the programme to charity.

According to The Herts Adviser a £500 donation was made to Herts Young Homeless as well as £500 being given to Emmaus Hertfordshire.

The remaining filming fee was donated to Bellway’s national charity partner Cancer Research.

Can I visit Hemel Hempstead?

Hemel Hempstead is easily visited due to being located just 24 miles north-west of London and is part of the Greater London Area.

There are plenty of tourist hot spots in the area to keep visitors busy.

Popular places to visit include the Amaravati Buddist Monastery, Gadebridge Park and the Hemel Old Town Sunday Market.

When is Marriage on TV and how can I watch it?

New series Marriage will air on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer on Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 9pm.

The series will then continue on Monday, August 15, 2022 from 9pm.

The third and fourth episodes will air in a similar style, with the third instalment broadcasting on Sunday, August 21, 2022 and the final episode will then air Monday, August 22, 2022.

The series will follow the fictional story of couple Ian and Emma who have been married for 30 years.


After recently being made redundant, Ian is trying to adapt to his new life while his wife Emma is doing well at work.

According to the synopsis, the four-part BBC drama will see the characters deal with “the insecurities, the ambiguities, the hopes and the fears that are part of all marriages”.

There is an all-star cast lined up for the show which will include Game of Thrones star Sean Bean and The Split actress Nicola Walker.

Talking about the series, Sean told the BBC: “I’m thrilled to be playing opposite the talented Nicola Walker and I’m looking forward to bringing Stefan’s intimate scripts to the screen.”
