A TEENAGER has become Britain’s worst tearaway by clocking up 204 arrests at just 16.

The lout was first nicked at 13 and has since been collared an average of once every five days by Surrey Police.

Other serial young offenders revealed by Sun Freedom of Information inquiries included a London 17-year-old with 50 arrests, including on suspicion of rape and robbery and 12 times for knife possession.

Wiltshire Police nabbed one 17-year-old 138 times, while Norfolk officers had pulled in a 16-year-old on 101 occasions.

Teen offenders are normally dealt with by youth courts which give them automatic anonymity to give them the best chance of going straight.

David Spencer, director of the Centre for Crime Prevention, said: “These youngsters plague their communities and make lives there a misery yet time and again they are put back on the streets to reoffend again and again.

“This is wrong and people in these communities have the right to expect the police and the courts to have the powers to protect them.

“There has to be consequences for young tearaways who offend time and time again.


“That could be longer custodial sentences or a more permanent social intervention, but we have to stop giving them a slap on the wrist and then dropping them back into communities to continue their reigns of terror.”
